Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Sept. 22, 2021) – Scott Bogucki drove to his best outing at the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial since 2018 last Saturday.

The SawBlade.com sponsored driver posted a third-place finish out of 60-plus drivers on Saturday during the event finale of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour tripleheader at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Bogucki was strong throughout the event, which began on Thursday. He advanced from sixth to third place in a heat race and from fourth to win a qualifier. That lined Bogucki up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“Considering how slick that place gets, it gets insanely slick with no cushion, I was happy with our performance,” he said. “That’s something I’ve been working on and we’ve gotten better. To run second, we were definitely pleased with the night.”

Bogucki’s runner-up result was his 14th top five of the season.

He continued to march forward on Friday, rallying from fifth to second in a heat race and from sixth to fifth in a qualifier. However, a DNF in the main event relegated him to a 26th-place result.

“We were good, but there was an error on my behalf,” he said. “I hit an infield tire and broke the steering arm. We were running probably seventh or eighth and it was early in the race. I was taking it easy running around the bottom trying not to get in trouble up top and I got myself in trouble.”

Despite the crash Bogucki earned enough combined points during the two preliminary nights to rank sixth overall. That started him on the outside of the third row in the A Main on Saturday.

“We did the lock-in hot laps and were on the tight side,” he said. “We just watched the track and made some calls that could have been risky compared to how free we had the car the rest of the weekend. The way the track was I’m glad we moved that way.”

Bogucki moved forward a trio of positions and his third-place result was his best during the event finale since a second-place showing three years ago.

“Obviously I want to win, but with 70 cars and that caliber of cars it’s pretty good,” he said.

Bogucki plans on taking this weekend off before resuming competition with the ASCS National Tour Oct. 1-2 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., during the Short Track Nationals.
