Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (June 2, 2021) – Scott Bogucki captured his second straight Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumph last Saturday during the opening night of the inaugural Sprint and Midget Nationals presented by The Drivers Project.

The SawBlade.com sponsored driver led the final nine laps of the 25-lap main event at Lake Ozark Speedway for his sixth career ASCS National Tour victory.

“We had the car great,” he said. “We were a little snug early, but as the race went on we freed up. I was rolling and could go wherever I wanted. I could run the bottom. I could run the top. I could go from the bottom to the top. The car was amazing.”

Bogucki qualified sixth quickest of the 46 drivers competing before a third-place finish in a heat race earned a spot into a dash. Bogucki finished where he started – second – to garner the outside front row starting spot for the A Main.

He faded a bit early, but came on strong during the middle of the race. Bogucki ripped around the tricky cushion and took the lead on Lap 17 before pulling away.

“It was a different format,” he said. “I didn’t mind it at all. I liked it a lot better than the conventional draw. We had a good race car all night. The track was kind of dirty and crumbly in the feature so you could keep the tires spinning so the ruts didn’t bug me.”

Momentum continued on Sunday during the event finale. Bogucki timed in seventh quickest, placed third in a heat race and advanced from sixth to fourth place in a dash to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the A Main.

He advanced early on the tricky track and was running third when he caught a rut in turns one and two. The result was a flip near the midpoint of the race, which was shortened from 40 laps to 30 laps. Bogucki was unable to resume the race and he was credited with a 18th-place result.

“I had a lapped car check up in front of me,” he said. “I put the brake to the floorboard and the car dug in. There was no saving it. I tried. It was frustrating because at that point I was riding. I was more than happy with third and survival, looking at the big picture of championship points.”

The next ASCS National Tour event is June 19-20 at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., for the Fred Brownfield Classic.
