Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (Oct. 13, 2020) – John Carney II has a strong track record at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where he will compete this weekend during the 47th annual Winter Nationals.

The SawBlade.com Xiphos saw blade and Mesilla Valley Transportation backed driver produced Winter Nationals wins with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in 2017 and 2016. He also recorded 305ci sprint car triumphs during the event in 2015 and 2013.

“I’ve always been kind of fortunate on the luck side,” Carney II said. “It feels like we’ve won a race there every year for a long time; a regional or national or a 305 race. I always seem to run up front so I’m looking forward to it.”

This weekend marks the first 360ci races this season at Devil’s Bowl Speedway for Carney II. However, he posted a 14th-place outing with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions and also garnered a career-best World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series result of eighth during a pair of 410ci starts.

“I’m just going to assume there is going to be probably 25 cars or so this weekend,” he said. “There probably won’t be qualifiers. If there is a redraw situation you’ll need to redraw good. You just have to start toward the front of the main to win. Once someone gets out front and gets going it’ll be pretty hard to catch them.”

Carney II enters the weekend coming off a season-best ASCS National Tour result of eighth in his most recent race.
